Made with care in Long Beach, California and Tulalip Washington
I’m Emma Templeton, sole creator of Starflower Ceramics handmade pottery. I picked up clay during my sophomore year of high school and haven’t put it down since. I am currently working towards a BFA in Ceramics at Cal State Long Beach, though my home studio is in Tulalip, WA.
What drew me towards pottery was the functionality of it. I love transforming everyday objects with exciting and intricate glaze and texture. To expand my artistic skills, I experiment with different techniques such as slip inlay, sgraffito, tape resist, etc. I love the variety and the learning experience.
I am currently working with commercial clay and glaze mainly in the cone 5-6 range, but I also dabble in cone 10 reduction.
I hope my work will bring you as much joy as it brings me. :)
”They’re genuinely perfect.”
“Emma put so much care into my cat's urn and brainstormed all the little details. I'm sure Ella loves it in there.”
“Holding and using Emma’s pieces help you appreciate the beauty of everything we do as people. They bring joy to the activities that are normally insignificant.”

Absolutely! All pieces intended for food and liquid use are made with food safe glazes on vitrified ceramics. This means that with proper cleaning the piece will not harbor bacteria or leach dangerous chemicals.
Yes! All work is microwave and dishwasher safe unless otherwise noted. Pieces with gold or mother-of-pearl luster will never be microwave or dishwasher safe. While they are durable, ceramic items are not indestructible so please handle with care to avoid breakage.
I have done commissions in the past and I am open to discussing ideas. However, custom pieces are time-intensive and may not fit into my schedule. Please reach out to me at [email protected] to discuss this further.
Currently, I do not have a permanent storefront. Give me a follow on Instagram because I will often post pieces for sale on my story! If you are near Long Beach, CA or around the Seattle area, I’d be happy to arrange a local pickup for something you’ve seen on my Instagram.
Unfortunately, once the piece is out of my hands there are many factors that could lead to breakage. The type of clay and firing temperature that I use makes pieces great at withstanding thermal shock. However, things can happen. If you experience breakage in your piece shortly after purchasing please email or DM me photos.
Choosing unique, handmade items like Starflower Ceramics’ pottery allows you to cultivate a home filled with character and authenticity while embracing sustainable craftsmanship over mass-produced convenience.
